MRR Madame Sabayon de Scott

Vital Stats
Sex: Female
Date of Birth: 20th March 2005
Date of Death: 26th August 2007.
Nicknames: Sabs, Sabby, Sabbykin, Babble, Demon Fuzz, Rogue, Sabsy.
Origin of Name: 'Sabayon' was the name of a brave warrior character I used in a story in High School, which seemed to fit her well. 'Scott' after one of my best friends at the time I got her, Scott.
Description: Sabs is a black hooded rex rattie. Her rex gene isn't very strong, so her fur is only slightly rippled on her belly.
Origin: I got Sabs on June 6th 2005. She'd been flown up from her breeder in Victoria (Julie of the Mad Ratter Rattery) along with four of her siblings. I then picked her up from Karen of Royaloaks Rattery who'd picked the bubs up from the airport.

Bio
What can I say about Sabs? When I first met her, she was a fuzzy ball of energy, a hurricane of black and white who zipped up my arm, dived down my shirt, clawed my chest and promptly got tangled in my hair. Now, two years later (as of the time of this writing), she's still got the same boisterous, charming, insane energy she had as a ratlet. I don't think this rat will ever slow down.
She delights in rampaging during free range time. But deep down she's a sweetie -she gets upset if she doesn't know where I am when she's freeranging, and she always comes back to check on me. She's a mummy's girl at heart, and even though she likes to play with other people, she's soon squirming to come back to me. She's also a chatterbox, constantly wuffling and chattering, hence the nickname Babble.
She has a passion for leather bookmarks and is constantly stealing mine, chasing it, or playing tug-of-war with me over it. She's also an aspiring pilot -she loves being tossed onto the bed and is always running back for more.
She's the most adventurous of all my rats. I've had to rescue her countless time and she always seems to assume that when she does something silly (like leaping off the desk), I'll be there to catch her.
She's a naughty little demon, and has a particular walk she does when she's been doing something bad... A sort of creep, accompanied by a guilty expression. It's impossible to stay mad at her fuzzy face, though, and she's soon bounding off happily while I'm sighing over a new hole in my shirt or something.
There are not enough words to describe Sabayon. This hyperactive little fuzzball isn't a rat. She's a little person in a furry suit. I love her more and more each day.
Sabayon developed a tumour in early January, 2007, which was successfully removed. However, in July, she\d developed another internal tumour, which ended up causing a prolapsed uterus. It was decided surgery would be too risky, and she lived quite happily for another month before she passed away quietly on my lap. She was the strongest, bravest, silliest rat I'd ever had and every day with her was an adventure. I miss her more than I can say.

Tales
Showers
I often take the rats into the bathroom with me while I shower. It's safe for them, because there's no electrical things they can get into. They run around on the bathroom floor, and I keep half an eye on them from the shower. But they still manage to get into mischief... Ella and Sabs were in the bathroom, I was showering. Sabayon had managed to scale the side of the bathtub via a towel draped over the side of it. I figured she couldn't get into any trouble there, and went back to washing my hair. But when I turned around a couple of minutes later to pick up the conditioner, I found a furry face looking through the glass at me. Sabby had gone from the side of the bathtub to the towelrack, climbed up a towel, and ran along the rail until she could see me. She sat there happily until I was done, while poor Ella couldn't figure out where she'd gone! Another time, Ella and Sabs were again running around the floor, as I showered. I glanced down at one point to find two furry faces looking up woefully at me through the glass. So I opened the door to reassure them. Big mistake. They both came darting towards me, and realised, to their horror, that they were getting wet. In seconds I had two soaking rats trying to climb up my naked legs. I had to pick them off, wincing in pain, and rub them dry with a towel before they'd let me put them down.
Tug-O-War
Sabayon loves tug-o-war more than any other rat I've had. If I have something, she wants it, regardless of what it is. She always wins, too. Her favourite things to play tug-o-war with are leather bookmarks, any sort of food I'm eating, pens, the syringe I use to medicate Ella, jewellery, my hair, my socks... The list goes on.
Holidaying
My family and I went on holiday this year. I only had Sabayon at the time, and she'd just had a major surgery to remove a tumour, so I wasn't about to leave her behind. So I fixed up her travel cage and loaded her into the car, and off we went. It was an eight-hour drive to our destination, so we had to stop for lunch halfway there. We stopped at a little pieshop my Dad knew about. We pulled up and I stayed with Sabayon out the front, while my Dad fetched me an icecream (double chocolate, might I add). As soon as she smelt the icecream, Sabayon went into cute-rat-begging mode. How could I resist? She and I shared the icecream, to the horror of the locals. We resumed our journey, and arrived at our destination late afternoon. My cousins, aunt and uncle were there already. They looked on in amusement as I smuggled Sabayon inside. Sabby spent a very happy week being spoilt rotten by everyone, before it was time to go home. We stopped at a different pieshop on the way home, but got the exact same reaction when Sabby shared lunch with me. Some people just don't understand.
